What We Believe

The Bible defines what we, at St Peter's, believe. As a church, we seek to submit to and obey the Bible.

The Church of England is historically founded on a set of principles called the 39 articles. The rule book of the Church of England, which is grounded in the Bible, says this about the 39 articles:

The thirty nine articles of religion are "agreeable to the Word of God and may be assented to with good conscience by all members of the Church of England".

One of these articles, number 6, declares that "Holy Scripture [The Bible] contains all things necessary for salvation". Consequently, whatever is not read in the Bible, nor can be proved from the Bible, cannot be demanded from any person to believe it as an article of faith. Nor is any such thing necessary, or required for salvation.
