Vision
Our vision as a church is to;
Live in the light of Jesus’ glory so that it shines throughout Stapenhill.
Mission
Our mission as a church is summed up in these words of Jesus;
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28: 19–20
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’”
Matthew 22: 37–39
Values
Our Values as a church are:
- Glory to Jesus
Jesus is our Lord and saviour, and all glory belongs to him. We seek to love him with all of our heart and to worship him with our whole lives. - Depend on God
God is gracious to us and provides for us, both in this life and for the next. In our weakness we embrace our dependence on God, and through prayer and the power of the Holy Spirit we seek his grace, mercy and guidance. - Listen to the Bible
God speaks to us today in the bible and reveals the glory of Jesus. The bible is good and has the power to transform us to be like Christ, therefore we seek to study it and live it out. - Serving the Church Family
Jesus came not to be served but to serve, because of this we too commit ourselves to serve others. His Spirit works in us, giving us unique gifts to build each other up in love. - Loving our neighbours
Jesus loved the world. We see this in all that he did and said. As witnesses to Jesus in a questioning world, we seek to follow his example by meeting the needs of our community and by sharing the good news of salvation. We long for our church to be a place of welcome for all people.
Goals
Our goals over the following year are:
- To encourage people to attend our monthly gathered prayer meeting so that the average monthly attendance is at least 20 people.
- To encourage people in their personal bible reading by having a monthly recommended resource. There will be a variety of recourses each with different focuses.
- To encourage hospitality within the church family; through holding regular church lunches (at least one a term) and through inviting people into our homes.
- To increase the presence of St. Peter’s and St Giles in our community, with a particular focus on schools (at least one engagement per term), care homes (at least one engagement per month) and Stapenhill Gardens (one engagement per year).
- To run a church at home weekend in 2025.
